MICRO-
AND MACROSTRUCTURE QUANTITY AND QUALITY ANALYSIS - on the metals, alloys,
metal ceramics, metal powder compacts etc.
Study of microstructures is being performed using a digital
camera connected to a metallography microscope and to a computer in a
common analysing system.
A quantity analysis of the metal structure is made using an
analysing microscope EPIQUANT, enabling quantity distribution of phases,
size and orientation of the grains of the phases, textures, etc., to be
studied.

ELECTRON MICROSCOPY - we
study metal structures and fractures by replicas and by thin films as
well.

X-RAY ANALYSIS - we can study
phases, lattice parameters, residual stresses and microstrains, retained
austenite, martensite, texture, thickness of the layers.

MECHANICAL TESTING - we can
perform tensile and compressive strength, fatigue testing, hardness,
impact tests (at various temperatures) of metal tubes, welds, bars,
sheets etc.
We use an extensive database for a variety of metals, polymers,
composites, ceramics, natural materials as we possess a lot of specialized
software, catalogs, handbooks (for instance "STEEL KEY", "ROVER",
"CAMBRIDGE MATERIAL SELECTOR", ASTM HANDBOOKS - 20 vol.),
standards not only of Eastern European but of the Central European countries
and the USA as well.

We can perform HEAT TREATMENT
AND CHEMICAL HEAT TREATMENT (quenching, annealing, tempering, carburisation,
nitriding, carbonitriding, oxidation) and study of strength, hardness
and microstructure after heat treatments.

We
perform SINTERING of metal powder compacts in controlled atmosphere using
computer-controlling furnace with maximum temperature 1400 C.
We are in collaboration with many companies, Universities,
Institutes working on TEMPUS, COPERNICUS - projects, SCIENCE for PIECE
(NATO) - project and others
